Penn State vs. Georgia Tech (Clemson, SC) March 9, 2013
The team got off to a roaring start during a scrimmage against Georgia Tech. The varsity men swept every event, including the MV8+. The women and novices fared well against the Yellow Jackets with a strong start to the season.
State’s Cup 2013 (Columbus, OH) March 30, 2013
After bad weather hindered the team’s ability to practice on the water, States Cup was a good opportunity to shake off the cobwebs against a strong Michigan State team.
Neuweiler Plate (Lewisberry, PA) April 6, 2013
Penn State was able to get back into a solid groove in time for Neuweiler Plate. After only rowing together once prior, the Men’s Varsity 8 had its strongest showing in years at this race and received votes in the ACRA National Poll. The MV4+, WL4+, and W2-captured victory while the MN4+, MN8+, and ML4+ had strong second place finishes.
Knecht Cup 2013 (Cherry Hill, NJ) April 13-14, 2013
At the team’s first major race of the season, many boats were able to compete in the grand finals, including another victory for the still undefeated WL4+.

Spring Break 2013 Recap
This year, the team traveled to a new venue for Spring Training. They traveled to Clemson, SC to train on the flat waters and multiple buoyed courses on Lake Hartwell. After a week of training, the team competed in sprints against Michigan State and Eastern Michigan on Friday and had a match race against Georgia Tech on Saturday. This was among the best venues the team had traveled to for training and are looking forward to returning next year!
